IBC’s Summer Intensive is a comprehensive five-week program designed to give serious students a well-rounded dance education and exposure to the Vaganova-based curriculum. Taught by our world-class instructors in a professional atmosphere, the IBCSI will allow students to experience the training that has consistently won awards and recognition in the ballet world. 

With over 30 hours per week of training and focused attention on individual needs, IBCSI provides each student a greater opportunity to grow and improve. Students receive the highest level of training by our esteemed Faculty:

  • Alyona Yakovleva, Founding Artistic Director

  • Tatiana Pali, Academy Principal and Ballet Mistress

  • Sergey Sergiev, Contemporary Instructor & Choreographer

  • as well as others, plus Master Classes by leading professionals in the ballet world

 

Curriculum:

Classes will be taught from Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. A detailed class schedule will be given to accepted students prior to the first day of classes. Classes to include the following:

  • Ballet Technique

  • Pointe (or Pre-Pointe)

  • Variations

  • Repertoire

  • Gentlemen’s Variations

  • Character

  • Jazz

  • Modern

  • Contemporary

  • Choreography

  • Floor Barre / Yoga / Pilates / & Intensive Stretching

  • Seminars on Nutrition & Wellness, Kinesiology, Acting, Music Appreciation & more.

Requirements:

This program is designed for the serious pre-professional dancer. Although this is intended for ladies and gentlemen 10-19 years of age, there may be exceptions for younger students who have special Faculty approval. Dancers will be grouped into three divisions based on age and ability. Placement, which is non-negotiable, will be finalized within the first few days of classes.

Attendance at IBCSI may also serve as a student’s audition for the Pre-Professional Day Program. Students wishing to be evaluated during the summer for admittance into the Day Program may express their intent and interest to the Admissions or Administrative Director before or during the first week of classes. All interested students must attend an IBCSI Audition. Currently enrolled IBC students who meet the initial age requirements need not attend an audition, but should confirm with the school regarding the student’s eligibility prior to enrolling in SI.

Housing:

IBC does not provide housing. Suggested hotels, VRBO’s, and a limited number of host family housing is available on request. For questions regarding housing, please contact the School Administrator
