Congratulations to IBC Students!
It is with great pleasure that we announce the results of the Youth America Grand Prix 2011 Indianapolis Regional Competition that IBC took part in this weekend. YAGP is the largest student ballet competition in the world and its regional competitions in the United States and abroad serve as qualifying rounds for the international New York City Finals held in March. More than forty schools attended from as far away as Canada, Florida, and Texas. The Indiana Ballet Conservatory took home several of the top awards at the Indianapolis regional competition, including the following:
- Outstanding School
- 1st Place Ensembles
- Youth Grand Prix (best overall in Junior Division)- Timoor Afshar
- Hope Award (best overall in PreCompetitive Division)- Demitra Bereveskos
- 1st Place Senior Contemporary- Abigail Matthews
- 3rd Place Senior Classical- Courtney Messer
- 3rd Place Junior Classical- Caitlin Cutsinger
- Top 12 Junior Classical- Felicity Audet
- Top 12 Junior Contemporary- Caitlin Cutsinger
- Top 12 PreCompetitive- Daria Afshar, Julia Rust
IBC wishes to extend a warm congratulations to its students, faculty, staff, and parents for the tremendous amount of sacrifice, time, and energy that went into making this year’s YAGP a successful endeavor. Congratulations to all!!! Those students and ensemble pieces who have qualified for the NY Finals will go on to compete on an international stage in March, and will represent IBC and Indiana amongst top ballet schools from around the world. IBC is thankful to YAGP and the Indianapolis City Ballet for bringing this opportunity to Indiana for the first time.
